The "Billiken" collection by Studio D'Artisan celebrates a cherished deity in Osaka. Billiken is more than just a symbol; it's a cultural icon deeply woven into the fabric of Osakan life. Revered as a bringer of good fortune, Billiken is believed to bestow success in business, examinations, and matters of the heart.
Originally created in the United States by the talented artist Florence Pretz and introduced to Japan around 1908, Billiken bears the inscription, "The God of things as they ought to be." In Japanese, this translates to "the deity governing the ideal form of things," symbolizing the belief that Billiken guides circumstances toward their rightful state.
