Studio D'Artisan "Ishikawadai" Straight Leg Jeans [SP-085]

The "Ishikawadai" series transports us to 1953, when Ishikawa Seisakujo produced this Japanese ring spinning machine—believed to be the oldest of its kind still in use today. Despite its age, the machine's slow operation, about a third of modern speeds, brings unique advantages. It exerts minimal stress on the cotton fibers, resulting in a fabric with a natural, uneven texture reminiscent of hand-spun cotton—something nearly impossible to achieve with modern machines.

The indigo-dyed warp threads preserve the cotton's distinct qualities without refinement, creating denim that echoes the vintage look of 1953, using traditional, low-tech methods. Products made from "Ishikawadai" denim evolve with each wear, gathering character and stories like vintage pieces from the past.
