This project is a collaboration between Studio D'Artisan" and Billiken-san, the symbolic god of Osaka. Shortly after World War II, American soldiers stationed at the Yokosuka U.S. Military Base in Japan had tailor shops create commemorative embroidery designs with oriental patterns and their unit and base emblems. This is said to be the origin of "Sukajan."
The front of this piece features a "NEW WORLD" sightseeing design with Billiken-san as the main character, showcasing the lively streets of Osaka and the charming Billiken. It also highlights some notable foods from the area, like takoyaki and kushikatsu. The back displays a map of Osaka, featuring beloved symbols of Osaka such as Billiken, Manzai, and Obachan.
