The Flat Head 14.5oz Left-hand Twill 1940s Jacket is the brand’s interpretation of the iconic wartime “Great War” denim jackets produced during the 1940s, combining meticulous vintage detailing with one of The Flat Head’s most distinctive denim fabrics. Rather than utilizing the traditional right-hand twill commonly found on vintage jackets, this model is constructed from The Flat Head’s proprietary 14.5oz left-hand twill selvedge denim woven from Zimbabwe cotton.
The fabric is woven at low tension on vintage shuttle looms, creating pronounced vertical slub and a unique fading pattern that develops strong vertical contrast over time. While Zimbabwe cotton is often associated with softer fabrics, The Flat Head increases weft density to retain structure and durability, resulting in a denim that starts firm but develops exceptional character with wear. Inspired by wartime Type I jackets, the FN-OJ-D101C features a rounded spade-shaped chest pocket with exposed rivets, front knife pleats, riveted back panels, original copper rivets, and laurel-style iron buttons that faithfully reflect period construction.
Finished with chain-stitched assembly throughout, the jacket delivers both historical authenticity and the dramatic fading characteristics that have made Flat Head denim legendary among enthusiasts.
The Flat Head FN-OJ-D101C features 14.5oz Zimbabwe cotton left-hand twill denim, wartime 1940s styling, and exceptional vertical fade potential. Shop now.
