Dehen 1920 - N-1 Waxed Canvas Black/Black Deck Jacket

The Dehen 1920 N-1 Deck Jacket takes one of the most recognizable pieces of American military outerwear and rebuilds it with the heavyweight materials and Portland manufacturing the company is known for. The Black/Black version keeps everything tonal, pairing a black waxed canvas shell with genuine black mouton through the body and collar.

The outer shell is made from substantial 10.10oz waxed canvas. The wax treatment gives the cotton additional protection from wind and wet weather while creating a surface that will crease, mark and develop character through regular wear. Rather than staying perfectly uniform, the black canvas should become increasingly personal as the wax shifts and the fabric breaks in.

Inside, genuine black mouton lines the body and collar. Dense, soft and exceptionally warm, the mouton gives the N-1 considerably more insulation than a conventional canvas jacket and is one of the defining features of Dehen’s interpretation.

The front combines a six-button placket with a hidden heavy duty #10 brass zipper and canvas zipper pull. This double closure helps seal out cold air while retaining the traditional military inspired appearance of the N-1.

An interior left chest pocket is secured with another #10 brass zipper, while two welt pockets provide storage at the exterior. Hidden 100% wool knit cuffs, produced at Dehen’s own Portland factory, help seal the sleeves against cold air without interrupting the clean exterior.

Underarm eyelets provide ventilation, while zigzag stitching beneath the collar and a buttoned neck closure complete the jacket’s functional detailing.

Heavy, warm and built with very little compromise, the Black / Black N-1 is a winter jacket designed to get better rather than simply older.

Fit

The genuine mouton lining takes up considerable space inside the jacket, giving the N-1 a slimmer fit than Dehen’s typical outerwear. Dehen recommends considering one size up if you are between sizes or prefer additional room.
