Indigofera - Women's Roslyn 70's Uneven Broken Twill Jeans Ecru

The Roslyn is Indigofera’s women’s high rise straight jean, taking its proportions from vintage women’s denim while giving the silhouette enough room through the hip and leg for everyday wear. This Ecru version replaces traditional indigo denim with a substantial 14oz Uneven Broken Twill, putting the texture and natural colour of the cotton at the centre of the jeans.

Made from 100% cotton, the 14oz fabric uses a broken twill construction rather than the continuous diagonal weave found in conventional right or left hand twill denim. Broken twill periodically reverses the direction of the weave, interrupting the familiar diagonal pattern and creating a more irregular surface. It also helps counteract the leg twist that can occur with traditional twill fabrics.

The uneven character of the yarn adds another layer of texture. In Ecru, there is no dark indigo dye hiding the surface of the cloth, so the variation in the weave and natural character of the cotton remain much more visible. Rather than developing the high contrast blue and white fades associated with indigo denim, these will age more subtly, picking up softness, wear and the marks that naturally come with a lighter pair of jeans.

The fabric has been soaked before reaching you, removing much of the initial movement from the cotton and taking some of the rigidity out of the 14oz cloth. It remains a substantial fabric, but the wash gives it a more approachable hand from the beginning and allows the wide, straight silhouette to fall more naturally.

Fit is Indigofera’s Roslyn, a women’s cut built around a high waist and straight leg. The rise places the jeans at the natural waist, while the fuller proportions through the hip and leg give the heavier fabric enough room to drape rather than feeling restrictive. It is a vintage influenced shape that works particularly well with the natural Ecru fabric.
