Indigofera x Björn Atldax - "Safe Haven" Wool Blanket

Indigofera’s wool blankets have become a category of their own within the brand, combining traditional Norwegian blanket production with artwork that often sits somewhere between folklore, tattoo culture and counterculture. Safe Haven continues that tradition through a collaboration with Swedish artist and graphic designer Björn Atldax, turning one of his intricate Skull Project illustrations into a substantial woven wool blanket.

The design draws its inspiration from the visual language of historical pirate flags. While the skull and crossbones became the most recognizable symbol associated with piracy, actual flags used a much broader vocabulary intended to intimidate their intended victims. Pierced hearts represented a willingness to kill, horns referenced the devil, the Kraken represented mastery of the sea, while the hourglass served as a warning that time was running out. Atldax brings these symbols together into the dense, graphic composition of Safe Haven.

Rather than printing the artwork onto a finished textile, the design becomes part of the blanket itself. The large 150 x 200 cm format gives Atldax’s artwork enough space for the smaller symbols and details to remain visible, while the woven construction gives the image considerably more texture and depth than a conventional printed piece.

Safe Haven is made from 100% Norwegian wool and produced in Norway. Wool is naturally warm, resilient and insulating, making this a genuinely functional blanket rather than simply a decorative art piece. At the same time, the scale and complexity of the artwork make it equally suited to being displayed on a wall, draped over furniture or used as a substantial layer around the home.

The blanket is part of a limited edition and individually numbered, bringing together Indigofera’s long running interest in traditional wool blankets with Atldax’s darker visual language. It is functional textile, graphic art and a piece of the ongoing collaboration between the Swedish brand and artist all at once.

Fabric & Care: Made from 100% Norwegian wool. Wool provides natural warmth, insulation and durability while giving the woven artwork a substantial, textured character. Because of the wool construction and scale of the piece, we recommend following the attached care instructions and avoiding conventional machine washing unless specifically directed by the manufacturer.

Fit: Approximately 150 x 200 cm, or 59 x 79 inches. The large format works as a functional wool blanket while also giving the Safe Haven artwork enough scale to be displayed as a textile piece.
