The Imogene + Willie Augusta Natural Indigo brings together one of the brand’s most distinctive women’s fits with a denim that tells a much bigger story about American manufacturing.

Originally developed as Imogene + Willie’s answer to a modern carpenter jean, the Augusta eventually evolved into a style of its own. It has a high rise with a full, straight leg, creating a relaxed silhouette that still feels clean through the waist and top block.

The jeans are cut from substantial 15oz natural indigo denim made with cotton that has been regeneratively farmed, ginned, and spun in the United States. The denim is produced by Mount Vernon Mills before being dyed using natural indigo grown in the American Southeast by Stony Creek Colors.

That natural indigo is an important part of what makes this fabric different. Stony Creek Colors grows plant-based indigo using regenerative agricultural practices, bringing a historically significant dye crop back into domestic textile production. For Imogene + Willie, the project is about connecting as much of the denim supply chain as possible back to American farms, mills, dye production, and garment manufacturing.

The Augusta itself keeps the construction straightforward. The 100% cotton denim is paired with a zipper fly and classic five pocket construction, allowing the fabric and high rise straight leg silhouette to remain the focus.

At 15oz, the denim has plenty of structure when new but will soften and become more personal through regular wear. The natural indigo will also develop its own variation over time, giving the jeans the kind of evolving character that makes a well worn pair of denim increasingly individual.
