Big John’s MS005E (055P) Wabash Work Shirt is built from a substantial 10oz selvedge fabric that gives the piece considerably more structure than a conventional button-up. The deep indigo base is finished with the traditional Wabash dot stripe, creating the distinctive workwear pattern while retaining the weight and character of a denim-based shirt.

The Wabash pattern is created through discharge printing, removing colour from the indigo-dyed surface to form the repeating dotted stripes rather than simply printing a lighter colour over the top. As the indigo fades through wear and washing, the surrounding fabric will gradually lighten while the pattern becomes increasingly pronounced, especially around the collar, cuffs, pockets and seams.

Construction follows a classic two-pocket work shirt layout, with selvedge detailing visible along the inner placket and side gussets. Vintage-style diamond relief buttons add another period-inspired detail without overwhelming the fabric, keeping the overall design rooted in traditional American workwear.

At 10oz, the MS005E has enough weight to function almost like a lightweight denim jacket while still retaining the versatility of a shirt. Wear it buttoned on its own through cooler weather or open over a T-shirt as an overshirt. The combination of indigo, Wabash printing and selvedge construction means the piece should become considerably more individual the longer it is worn.

Fabric & Care: Made from 10oz indigo-dyed selvedge Wabash fabric with discharge-printed dot stripes. The indigo will gradually fade with repeated wear and washing, creating stronger contrast around the collar, cuffs, pockets, seams and other high-contact areas. Big John notes that shrinkage, fading and colour transfer may occur with washing, although minor shrinkage should recover with wear. Wash cold with similar dark colours, avoid chlorine bleach and do not tumble dry.

Fit: Built in a traditional work shirt silhouette with enough structure to wear either buttoned on its own or open over a T-shirt. Big John notes that its tops follow Japanese sizing and may fit approximately one size smaller than typical North American or European sizing. We recommend comparing our garment measurements with a shirt you already own before selecting your size.
