Big John’s M104J BASE is built around the idea of the essential five-pocket jean. Rather than pushing toward an exaggerated slim or wide silhouette, the Classic Fit takes its proportions from traditional straight-leg denim, with comfortable room through the hips and thighs before continuing cleanly toward the hem. It is intended to be straightforward, dependable and easy to wear year after year.

The jeans use Big John’s 14oz 100% cotton selvedge denim, a substantial midweight fabric with enough structure to feel like proper denim without becoming overly heavy. The fabric has been sanforized and given a One Wash treatment, taking away much of the initial stiffness while leaving plenty of character to develop. With regular wear, the deep indigo surface will gradually soften, crease and fade around the thighs, knees, pockets and seams.

Traditional five-pocket construction is finished with red-line selvedge, an exposed selvedge edge through the button fly, Big John embossed brass buttons and brass rivets. A goatskin leather patch finishes the waistband, keeping the details simple and rooted in classic Japanese jean construction rather than adding unnecessary decoration.

The Classic Fit has a balanced rise and generous top block with a straight leg that is neither narrow nor excessively wide. That makes the M104J one of Big John’s most versatile cuts, working just as naturally with a T-shirt and sneakers as it does with boots, flannels or heavier workwear.

Fabric & Care: Made from Big John’s 14oz 100% cotton selvedge denim. The fabric is sanforized and has received a One Wash treatment, so major initial shrinkage has already been reduced. The indigo will gradually fade and transfer with wear, particularly when new. Wash cold with similar dark colours when necessary and hang dry. Avoid bleach and tumble drying.

Fit: Big John’s Classic Fit is a traditional straight silhouette with a balanced rise, comfortable room through the seat and thighs and a clean straight leg through the hem. It sits between slimmer modern fits and wider vintage cuts, making it an easy everyday jean.
