Big John’s MTS09M Heavy Weight Tee takes one of the simplest pieces in a wardrobe and puts the emphasis almost entirely on fabric and construction. Made from substantial 100% cotton jersey in Wakayama, Japan, the shirt has a noticeably firmer, drier hand than a conventional lightweight T-shirt, giving it enough structure to hold its shape rather than falling flat against the body.

The body is knitted using tubular construction, meaning the fabric is produced as a continuous cylinder rather than being cut into front and back panels and joined with side seams. Removing those seams creates a cleaner silhouette and a smoother feel around the torso while also giving the shirt the traditional construction associated with older Japanese and American-made basics.

The heavyweight jersey starts with plenty of body but is designed to become more comfortable through repeated wear and washing. Rather than feeling overly soft from the beginning, the cotton gradually relaxes and develops a more lived-in hand while maintaining the substantial character that separates it from an ordinary tee.

Finished in Black, the MTS09M is about as straightforward as it gets, which is exactly the point. The dense fabric and clean tubular body give a basic black T-shirt considerably more presence, making it easy to wear on its own with denim and fatigues or underneath heavier shirts and jackets throughout the year.

Fabric & Care: Made from 100% cotton heavyweight tubular jersey with a dry, structured hand. The dense knit will gradually soften and relax with repeated wear and washing. Wash cold with similar colours and hang dry to help preserve the fit and structure of the fabric. Avoid excessive heat and tumble drying.

Fit: Cut in a regular silhouette with enough room for the heavyweight jersey to sit naturally without feeling oversized. The tubular construction eliminates side seams and allows the body to fall cleanly through the torso.
