The Dehen 1920 Flight Vest is a clean, understated layering piece built around one of the more interesting fabrics in the brand’s lineup. Rather than overcomplicating the design, Dehen keeps the silhouette straightforward and lets the Japanese Sashi-Ori fabric and Portland construction do most of the work.

The exterior is cut from a substantial 12oz Sashi-Ori fabric, woven in Japan from 100% cotton. The fabric has a pronounced woven texture that gives the Natural colourway plenty of visual depth without relying on prints or additional detailing. It is substantial enough to work through the shoulder seasons while remaining versatile enough to layer throughout the year.

Dehen finishes the neckline with a 1x1 knit collar and Dark Tan trim made from 100% worsted wool. The wool trim is knitted in-house at Dehen’s Portland factory, bringing one of the company’s longest-standing specialties into an otherwise woven garment.

A heavy two-way #10 brass zipper runs through the front, while single welt hand pockets keep the exterior clean. Inside, the vest is finished with a cream lining and an additional welt pocket with a snap closure.

The combination of textured Japanese cotton, Dehen’s own wool knitting and American cut and sew production makes this a good example of what the brand does particularly well. It is simple at first glance, but the materials and construction become much more apparent once you have it in hand.
