The Willie is Imogene + Willie’s classic high rise, straight leg fit, built around a simple idea: a straightforward pair of jeans that sits above the hips and runs cleanly through the thigh and knee.
This version is cut from a 14oz, 100% cotton selvedge denim produced by Nihon Menpu in Japan. The fabric uses an open weave construction that gives it the substantial feel of a heavier denim without adding unnecessary bulk, making it a particularly versatile weight for year round wear.
The denim starts in a deep indigo shade with a rigid finish, leaving the fabric ready to develop naturally from the first wear. As the jeans break in, the denim softens considerably and the indigo begins to develop higher contrast fading shaped by how they are worn.
The Willie sits above the hips with a straight fit through the thigh and knee. Traditional five pocket construction and a button fly keep things uncomplicated, while the jeans ship with a long inseam, leaving plenty of length to wear cuffed or hemmed to preference.
The denim is produced in Japan, with the finished jeans patterned, cut and sewn in the USA.

Fabric & Care: The 14oz Nihon Menpu denim begins rigid but softens considerably as it breaks in. Imogene + Willie’s own wear testing found the fabric became noticeably softer within the first week and continued to relax with wear. The denim is designed to develop rich, high contrast fading over time.
Fit: The Willie sits above the hips and runs straight through the thigh and knee. Imogene + Willie describes the fit as true to size. Their wear testing notes that the rigid Nihon Menpu denim can stretch approximately 1.5" to 2" through the waist with extended wear, so expect some relaxation as the jeans break in.

Expected Shrinkage
Raw sanforized denim. Minimal shrinkage of roughly 1 to 3% after the first wash.
