Inception - Chromexcel Leather Silver Plated Brass Chain [IPC-11]

The IPC-11 takes Inception’s traditional wallet chain and pairs it with one of the most recognizable American leathers, Horween Chromexcel. Built in Japan, the chain combines richly oiled leather with substantial brass hardware finished in silver plating, creating a piece designed to change considerably with use.

The leather is genuine Chromexcel produced by Horween Leather Company in Chicago. Developed more than a century ago, Chromexcel is made using a combination tanning process before being heavily infused with a proprietary blend of oils, waxes and greases. The result is a thick yet remarkably supple cowhide with the distinctive pull up effect for which Chromexcel is known.

As the leather bends and flexes, the oils within the hide move and reveal lighter tones beneath the surface. Scratches, handling and everyday wear gradually become part of the leather rather than simply sitting on top of it, allowing the chain to develop a rich patina unique to its owner.

The chain and hardware are constructed from brass before receiving a pure silver plated finish. This provides the substantial weight and durability of brass while allowing the surface to develop the darker character associated with silver as it ages.

A threaded shackle at the wallet end provides a secure connection while remaining easy to remove when needed. Measuring approximately 48.5cm in overall length, the IPC-11 is substantial enough to function as a traditional wallet chain without becoming excessively long.

Available in Burgundy, Green and Navy, each colour highlights the pull up and tonal variation of Chromexcel differently.

Leather & Aging: Chromexcel is heavily infused with oils and waxes, giving it a rich pull up effect and allowing the surface to evolve quickly through regular use. Expect creasing, tonal variation, increased lustre and a deeper patina as the leather ages. The silver plated brass hardware will also gradually develop character through handling and exposure.
