Inception - UK Saddle Leather Basket & Brass Chain Brown [IPC-06]

The IPC-06 is Inception’s take on the traditional wallet chain, pairing substantial UK saddle leather with solid brass hardware. Built in Japan, it combines old world leather production with the weight and character of brass, creating an accessory designed to become increasingly personal with use.

The brown saddle leather comes from J&FJ Baker, one of Britain’s oldest remaining traditional tanneries and a specialist in leather originally developed for demanding equestrian use. The leather is traditionally oak bark tanned and heavily worked with natural waxes and oils, creating an exceptionally dense material with excellent strength and natural water resistance.

For the IPC-06, the leather section is approximately 5 to 5.5mm thick before being skived where required for construction. It is finished with Inception’s distinctive basket pattern, adding texture and depth while retaining the substantial character of the saddle leather underneath.

The chain and hardware are constructed from brass and left unplated, allowing the metal to age naturally alongside the leather. With regular handling, the brass will gradually darken and develop a warmer patina, while the brown saddle leather will deepen in colour and gain additional lustre.

At approximately 48.5cm in total length, the IPC-06 has enough presence to work as a traditional wallet chain without becoming excessively long. Both the leather and brass have been chosen specifically for the way they evolve with use, allowing the entire piece to become more individual over time.

Leather & Aging: The UK saddle leather is produced for density, strength and longevity, with waxes and oils worked deep into the hide during production. With regular use, the brown leather will gradually darken and develop a richer lustre. The untreated brass will also naturally darken and develop patina, allowing the leather and hardware to age together.
