Inception - UK Saddle Leather Basket Silver Plated Brass Chain Brown [IPC-07]

The IPC-07 is Inception’s refined take on the traditional wallet chain, pairing substantial UK saddle leather with brass hardware finished in silver plating. Built in Japan, it brings together materials chosen as much for how they will age as for how they look when new.

The brown leather comes from J&FJ Baker, one of Britain’s longest established tanneries and a specialist in traditional saddle and harness leather. Using tanning methods with roots stretching back centuries, wax is worked deep into the fibres of the hide, producing an exceptionally dense leather with excellent strength and natural water resistance.

For the IPC-07, the saddle leather is approximately 5 to 5.5mm thick before being skived as required for construction. The leather section is finished with Inception’s distinctive basket pattern, adding depth and texture while keeping the character of the saddle leather at the centre of the piece.

The chain itself is constructed from brass before receiving a silver plated finish. This combines the substantial feel and durability of brass with the cleaner appearance of silver coloured hardware. Like the leather, the hardware is designed to develop more character through regular handling and wear.

At approximately 48.5cm in total length, the IPC-07 has enough presence to work as a traditional wallet chain without becoming excessively long. The brown saddle leather will gradually deepen in colour and develop additional lustre as it is used, making each piece increasingly individual over time.

Leather & Aging: J&FJ Baker saddle leather is deeply impregnated with wax during production, creating an exceptionally dense and durable leather. With regular handling, the brown leather will gradually darken, develop greater lustre and become increasingly personal to the wearer. The silver plated brass hardware will also naturally develop character with use.
