The Catskill Vest takes one of Indigofera’s signature wool blanket designs and turns it into a functional cold weather layer. Rather than treating the blanket fabric simply as decoration, Indigofera builds the vest around the warmth, texture and bold striped character of the wool, creating something that sits naturally alongside the brand’s denim and workwear.

The striped pattern takes its inspiration from the Catskill Mountains of New York, drawing from the muted colours of the region’s forests, hills and river valleys. It is the same visual language found in Indigofera’s Catskill wool blanket, giving the vest a distinctive mix of earthy colours without feeling overly loud. The heavier wool construction also gives each stripe considerably more depth and texture than a conventional woven vest fabric.

Inside, the wool shell is fully backed with a 100% cotton lining. This keeps the wool away from the body and makes the vest more comfortable when worn over lighter shirts, while still allowing the outer fabric to provide the natural insulation and structure associated with wool blanket cloth. It also gives the Catskill enough substance to work as an outer layer through transitional weather or as additional insulation underneath a heavier jacket.

Construction is kept simple and utilitarian. A front zipper makes the vest easy to layer, while two waist pockets are reinforced with metal rivets at the stress points. The straightforward shape keeps attention on the striped blanket fabric and makes the Catskill easy to combine with denim, canvas trousers, flannels and other heavier pieces.

The result feels very much like Indigofera. It takes a textile with its own history and character and turns it into something genuinely wearable rather than simply decorative. The wool provides natural warmth and structure while the cotton lining creates a softer surface against the layers underneath.
