The Shop Denim Chore Coat is a Knickerbocker staple, rooted directly in the brand’s own history. The design is a nod to the chore coats Knickerbocker once produced in its original Queens factory, taking that straightforward piece of American workwear and refining it through fabric, construction and finishing.

The coat is cut from a substantial 14.5oz indigo selvedge denim woven by Candiani Mills in Italy. Made from 100% cotton, the denim is woven on traditional shuttle looms and rope dyed, allowing the indigo to remain concentrated toward the surface of the yarn. This creates the foundation for the denim to continue developing contrast and character as it is worn.

Rather than starting completely raw, Knickerbocker gives the denim its Indigo Vintage Wash. The wash brings out the texture and variation of the fabric from the beginning, softening the heavier 14.5oz denim and giving the coat a naturally worn appearance without taking away its ability to continue evolving over time.

Construction stays firmly rooted in traditional workwear. Triple needle felled seams reinforce the coat throughout, while adjustable cuffs allow the sleeves to be opened up or brought in depending on how it is worn. Knickerbocker branded metal tack buttons and solid copper rivets provide the finishing hardware, details chosen as much for their durability as for the way they will age alongside the denim.
