The fabric is 100% cotton and uses neppy yarn through the warp to create an irregular, textured surface. Small variations and clusters in the yarn remain visible throughout the denim, preventing the Dark Indigo from ever looking completely flat or uniform. It gives the pants plenty of character when new and provides an interesting foundation for the fabric to continue changing with wear.

At 10oz, this is considerably lighter than the heavyweight denim most people associate with Pure Blue Japan. The fabric feels soft and supple, making these particularly useful through warmer weather or for anyone who wants the character of Japanese denim without the break-in period of a heavier jean. The lighter weight also allows the straight silhouette to drape more naturally through the leg.

The Dark Indigo fabric will continue to develop as the pants are worn and washed. PBJ’s irregular yarn gives the surface plenty of variation, while friction around the pockets, knees, seams and hems will gradually create lighter areas against the darker base colour. These arrive one washed, so the initial shrinkage has already been taken care of and the fabric has a softer hand from the beginning.

The pocket construction is what really separates the LP-1191-D from a conventional five pocket jean. Front slash pockets are layered with additional patch pockets, creating the double pocket arrangement that gives the model its name. A smaller utility pocket sits on the right thigh, adding another functional workwear detail without turning the pants into a full cargo design.

Pure Blue Japan finishes the pants with a button fly, branded iron buttons, raised belt loops and its signature embroidered leaf on the rear pocket. Side adjusters at the waist provide a small amount of additional adjustment and reinforce the workwear influence behind the design.
