RACAL’s RL-25-1409 takes the simplicity of a four panel cap and gives it considerably more character through fabric and construction. Made in Japan from a compressed bouclé wool blend, it has a textured, slightly irregular surface that feels more substantial than a conventional cotton cap while maintaining RACAL’s clean approach to everyday headwear.

The fabric is a 65% wool and 35% nylon blend with the naturally looped and uneven texture associated with bouclé. RACAL compresses the fabric, giving it a denser hand and helping the cap maintain its shape without losing the visual softness of the wool. In Charcoal, that texture creates subtle shifts between lighter and darker tones rather than appearing completely flat.

The four panel construction gives the cap a distinctive silhouette. Instead of the familiar six panel baseball cap layout, the crown is divided into four larger sections, producing a cleaner shape with fewer seams across the front. It feels somewhere between traditional sportswear and older military headwear, which is exactly where much of the character of this style comes from.

RACAL leans further into that military influence through the finishing details. Herringbone stitching runs along the side panel seams, introducing a small piece of contrast and emphasizing the construction of the crown. At the front, a loop made from the same bouclé fabric provides a subtle accent without relying on an embroidered logo or graphic.
