ROTOTO’s R1001-BR Double Face Crew Socks take one of the brand’s longstanding designs and rebuild it around naturally coloured brown organic cotton. Inspired by the thick socks traditionally worn for mountaineering, the double face construction combines merino wool on the exterior with soft organic cotton directly against the skin, creating a substantial sock with the plush feel of sweatshirt fleece.

What separates the R1001-BR from ROTOTO’s standard R1001 is the cotton itself. The inner layer uses naturally brown organic cotton, known in Japan as Chamen, which is left completely undyed. Its warm brown colour comes naturally from the cotton fibre rather than a dye process. ROTOTO knits this cotton into soft loops along the inside, creating a thick, cushioned surface while keeping the softer cotton directly against the foot.

The Green/Brown colourway pairs the naturally brown interior with a muted green merino wool exterior, reinforcing the earthier palette ROTOTO developed specifically for the BR series. The combination works especially well with indigo denim, olive fatigues, khaki trousers and brown leather footwear while remaining understated enough for everyday wear.

Rated four out of five on ROTOTO’s thickness scale, the R1001-BR is considerably more substantial than a standard everyday sock. It is particularly well suited to cooler weather, boots and footwear with enough room for its heavier double layer construction, combining warmth, cushioning and the natural feel of undyed organic cotton.

Fabric & Care: Made from 80% cotton, 15% wool, 4% polyester and 1% polyurethane. Merino wool forms the exterior while naturally brown organic cotton is used undyed on the inside. The cotton is loop knitted to create a soft, thick and cushioned surface directly against the skin. Wash gently and avoid tumble drying, as excessive heat may cause shrinkage.

Fit: Available in Small, Medium and Large. Small fits approximately 23–25cm, Medium 25–27cm and Large 27–29cm. The substantial double face construction is considerably thicker than a standard everyday sock, so footwear with a little additional room will provide the most comfortable fit.
