ROTOTO’s R1001 Double Face Organic Cotton Crew Socks have been part of the brand’s collection since the beginning, taking inspiration from the thick socks traditionally worn for mountaineering. Their defining feature is a double face construction that places merino wool on the exterior for warmth while keeping soft, undyed organic cotton directly against the skin.

The inner layer is knitted from thick, low-count organic cotton and formed into soft loops, creating a plush, sweatshirt-like interior with plenty of cushioning. Because the cotton remains undyed, the inside retains its natural off-white tone, while the merino wool outer layer provides additional warmth and structure. This combination gives the R1001 its substantial feel without sacrificing comfort.

The Charcoal colour gives the exterior a clean, understated appearance that works easily with denim, fatigues, chinos and darker footwear. It is one of the most versatile R1001 colourways, with the neutral outer layer keeping the focus on the thick double face construction and soft natural cotton interior.

Rated four out of five on ROTOTO’s thickness scale, the R1001 is considerably more substantial than a conventional everyday sock. It is particularly well suited to cooler weather, boots and roomier shoes, combining warmth, cushioning and the soft feel of organic cotton directly against the foot.

Fabric & Care: Made from 80% cotton, 15% wool, 4% polyester and 1% polyurethane. Merino wool forms the exterior while thick, undyed organic cotton is loop knitted on the inside for a soft, cushioned feel against the skin. Wash gently and avoid tumble drying, as excessive heat may cause shrinkage.

Fit: Available in Small, Medium and Large. Small fits approximately 23–25cm, Medium 25–27cm and Large 27–29cm. The substantial double face construction is thicker than a standard everyday sock, so footwear with a little additional room will provide the most comfortable fit.
