ROTOTO’s R1658 Duck Hunter Camo Socks take one of the more recognizable camouflage patterns from vintage outdoor clothing and translate it into an easy everyday sock. Rather than using camouflage as a purely military reference, ROTOTO goes back to the pattern’s original purpose, hunting, and the organic shapes designed to disappear into natural surroundings.

Duck Hunter camouflage was originally developed for hunting, using irregular rounded shapes rather than the sharper geometry found in many later military camouflage patterns. Versions of the pattern were eventually adopted for military use as well, helping it move beyond hunting equipment and become a familiar part of vintage military and outdoor clothing.

ROTOTO recreates that distinctive pattern across the entire sock, giving the R1658 plenty of visual character without making it difficult to wear. The organic shapes and muted colour combinations feel particularly natural alongside denim, military trousers, fatigues, canvas sneakers and boots.

The yarn blend is 75% cotton, 23% nylon and 2% polyurethane. Cotton makes up the majority of the sock for a comfortable everyday feel, while nylon adds durability and polyurethane provides the stretch needed to help the sock maintain its shape and fit.

ROTOTO keeps the overall thickness relatively light and versatile. There is enough substance to give the sock some presence, but it is not built like a particularly heavy boot sock. That balance allows it to work comfortably with sneakers while remaining suitable for leather shoes and boots.

Like all ROTOTO socks, the R1658 is produced in Japan. The brand works primarily with specialist factories in Nara Prefecture, Japan’s largest sock-producing region, selecting different knitting machines and production methods depending on the yarn, construction and intended use of each design.

The result is a sock that connects naturally with the same vintage outdoor and military references found throughout heritage clothing. The Duck Hunter pattern gives it an immediate identity, while the cotton-rich construction and moderate weight keep it practical enough for regular wear.

ROTOTO specifically recommends avoiding tumble drying, as heat may cause the socks to shrink. Due to the nature of knitted products, slight variations can occur between production runs.

Fit: Available in multiple unisex sizes. ROTOTO lists Small as approximately 23–25cm, Medium as 25–27cm and Large as 27–29cm. The polyurethane content provides stretch to help the sock comfortably conform to the foot.
