ROTOTO’s R1255 Coarse Ribbed Oldschool Crew Socks look back to the tube socks that became a fixture of American West Coast style during the late 1970s. The R1255 is knitted using a specialized machine that is increasingly difficult to find today. ROTOTO pairs that machinery with a thick, low-count cotton yarn, producing the pronounced ribbed texture and substantial feel that gives the sock its old-school character.

The fabric is made from 73% cotton, 12% acrylic, 12% polyester and 3% polyurethane. Cotton makes up the majority of the construction, providing the firm but comfortable hand that defines the sock. The additional fibres provide stretch, resilience and help the ribbed knit maintain its shape through regular wear.

Underfoot, ROTOTO uses a long pile construction to create a noticeably different feel from a conventional ribbed sock. The loops form a soft, springy layer beneath the foot, providing additional cushioning for long periods of walking or standing while giving the R1255 its distinctive bouncy feel.

Visually, the design stays close to the vintage tube socks that inspired it. A long pile construction is used along the sole to create additional cushioning and a soft, springy feel underfoot. ROTOTO notes that the surface of this sock can be sensitive to abrasion, particularly when worn with leather shoes. Avoid tumble drying, as heat may cause shrinkage.

Fit: Available in Small, Medium and Large. Small fits approximately 23–25cm, Medium 25–27cm and Large 27–29cm. The ribbed knit provides plenty of stretch through the foot and leg while maintaining the substantial feel associated with vintage tube socks.
