The black version of Samurai’s SJST-ML carries the same “beyond basic” approach, focused on fabric character and long-term wear rather than just being a plain tee.
Built from raw cotton spun into thick, slubby #14 yarns, the fabric has a dry, textured hand that softens and molds with wear. It’s knitted on vintage Daimaruki circular machines, giving it a dense but comfortable feel with natural irregularity throughout.
Construction stays traditional with tubular knitting (no side seams) for a clean drape and reduced friction, along with a triple-stitched collar that holds its shape over time. The shirt comes one washed, so it’s ready to wear with minimal shrinkage.
In black, the texture reads even stronger; less about fade, more about depth and surface variation as the fabric breaks in.
