The Samurai Jeans S510XX25oz-SP brings back one of the brand’s most uncompromising fabrics, a massive 25oz Japanese selvedge denim built around the classic S510XX Regular Straight fit. Returning after a two-year absence, this special model strips things back to a straightforward five-pocket jean and lets the sheer weight, texture and aging potential of Samurai’s 25oz denim do most of the talking.

Producing denim at this weight is difficult in itself. Samurai uses specially developed slub yarns to create a cloth that is exceptionally thick and dense, but deliberately irregular rather than flat or uniform. Fresh out of the box, the denim has an almost armour-like rigidity with a coarse, heavily textured surface. It is not meant to feel broken-in from day one. The appeal is in watching something this substantial gradually change through months and years of wear.

As the denim begins to soften, the heavy slub yarn becomes increasingly important. Raised sections of the fabric take abrasion faster while lower areas hold onto their indigo, producing strong vertical character, pronounced creasing and the high-contrast fades heavyweight Samurai denim is known for. Despite how rigid it begins, the fabric gradually conforms to the wearer, making the break-in period a genuine part of the experience.

For the silhouette, Samurai uses the S510XX Regular Straight, one of the brand’s most established cuts. It provides a traditional rise with plenty of room through the seat and thigh before continuing into a full straight leg. The generous proportions make particular sense with a fabric this heavy, giving the 25oz denim space to move and allowing it to settle naturally rather than forcing it into a narrow tapered shape.

The special-edition detailing is unmistakably Samurai. Gold Sunrise iron buttons replace the brand’s usual hardware, paired with copper coin-style rivets, “Shogyō Mujō” jacquard pocket bags and a dedicated leather patch and flasher developed specifically for the 25oz release. The combination keeps the jeans visually restrained while still separating them from a standard S510XX.

Our version is supplied in raw, unsanforized form, leaving the denim completely untouched before wear. That means the first soak or wash becomes part of dialing in the final fit, while also giving you the fabric in its firmest, most heavily textured state from the beginning. Fabric & Care

100% cotton, 25oz raw unsanforized Japanese selvedge denim.

This is an exceptionally dense and rigid denim when new. The specially developed slub yarn gives the surface pronounced irregularity that will become increasingly visible as the fabric softens and fades.

Because our stock is raw and unsanforized, expect meaningful shrinkage during the first soak or wash. We recommend checking the listed garment measurements carefully and allowing for shrinkage before hemming.

For the first wash, cold soak or wash with a mild denim detergent and hang dry. Avoid tumble drying unless additional shrinkage is specifically desired. Indigo transfer is expected, particularly while the denim is new.

Fit

Samurai S510XX Regular Straight fit.

The S510XX offers a traditional rise with a roomy top block and generous thigh before continuing into a full straight leg. The wider proportions are particularly well suited to the 25oz fabric, giving the extremely heavy denim enough room to move and break in comfortably.

Because this version is raw and will shrink with washing, we strongly recommend using our size charts rather than relying solely on the tagged size.
