The TCB Catface Jacket is a faithful reproduction of the US Army M40 denim jacket adopted in 1940, reinterpreted through TCB’s obsessive attention to vintage military workwear construction and fabric development. Inspired by the stripped down practicality of wartime issued garments, the jacket removes unnecessary decorative details in favour of a cleaner, more functional silhouette that reflects the rugged utility of original military supply pieces.
Constructed from TCB’s original 10.2oz denim using recycled cotton in both the warp and weft, the fabric intentionally recreates the rough texture, nep character, and unevenness found in vintage US Army denim. Unlike modern uniform denims, the fabric retains a raw, irregular surface with natural slub and depth that will continue to evolve and soften over time. Additional vintage details include practical asymmetrical chest pockets, donut button hardware, period correct construction techniques, and unsanforized-style character with natural twisting developing through wear.
