TCB - Cathead Chore Jacket Hickory

The Cathead Jacket is TCB’s take on a rare 1930s Duck Head chore coat; one of those off-brand workwear pieces where function drove design, and the details ended up being the story.

Cut in a short, boxy silhouette, it leans more work jacket than traditional chore coat. The hickory stripe fabric keeps things rooted in railroad-era workwear, using a lighter, vintage-leaning tone with a grey-dyed weft to subtly mute the contrast and help conceal wear over time.

The fabric itself is where this one stands out. Built from a blend of four different yarn types to create a layered, uneven texture that feels closer to true vintage than standard repro denim. It’s left unsinged to keep the nep and irregularity intact, so it’ll age with a bit more character right out of the gate. 

Construction leans fully into the original reference, including the standout chain-stitched collar (stitched on the outside), multiple button types throughout, and green bar tacks that will fade down with wear.

This is one of those pieces that feels a bit “off” in the best way; less uniform, more personality, exactly how early workwear was meant to be.
