TCB’s Cats Drive Jacket is based on a late-1940s to 1950s cowboy-brand denim jacket originally designed with horseback riding in mind. The silhouette is shorter and more fitted through the waist than a typical work jacket, with a distinctly Western shape that gives it a different character from the Type I, II and III jackets that dominate most vintage-inspired denim collections.

For this latest version, TCB completely revisited the denim. The 14.6oz Japanese selvedge fabric uses EMOT cotton, a blend sourced from East Memphis, New Orleans and Texas, woven as a left-hand twill. Both the warp and weft have been changed to 6-count yarn, with deliberately longer slub irregularities creating more pronounced texture across the surface.

That yarn construction is specifically designed around how the jacket will age. Left-hand twill is known for producing long vertical fading, and TCB adjusted the yarn shape to exaggerate those streaks even further. As the rope-dyed indigo wears away, the uneven surface should develop strong vertical contrast rather than the shorter, more broken fading commonly associated with conventional denim.

Construction includes two flap chest pockets, a heavily reinforced collar, zig-zag stitching through the front placket, custom TCB Cat Boy buttons and adjustable waist tabs. The jacket retains the narrow hem and fitted waist of its vintage inspiration, making it a strong standalone denim jacket while still leaving enough room to size up for a sweatshirt or light knit underneath.

Fabric & Care: Made from 14.6oz 100% cotton Japanese selvedge left-hand twill denim using TCB’s EMOT cotton blend. The 6-count warp and weft yarns incorporate elongated slub irregularities specifically intended to encourage long vertical fading. The fabric is sanforized, so significant additional shrinkage is not expected. Wash cold with similar dark colours when necessary and hang dry. Indigo transfer and colour loss are expected as the jacket develops.

Fit: The Cats Drive has a vintage Western silhouette with a relatively fitted body and noticeably tapered waist and hem. TCB’s own staff examples show the same body size wearing one size for a close T-shirt fit and the next size up for room over a sweatshirt or hoodie. If you prefer layering room, consider sizing up. We recommend comparing our garment measurements with a jacket you already own before selecting your size.
