TCB’s Blanket Lined Cat Head Jacket takes the brand’s Cat Head chore coat and reworks it specifically for colder weather. The original Cat Head was developed from a rare 1930s Duck Head work jacket, but rather than reproducing a known lined vintage example, TCB approached this version with a simple question: what would that jacket have looked like if it had been built with a blanket lining from the beginning?

The outer fabric is one of the strongest parts of the jacket. TCB developed the denim by dissecting and studying an original vintage chore coat, then recreating its irregular character with four different yarns. The warp combines #8 straight yarn and #9 short slub yarn, while the weft mixes #12 irregular and neppy yarns. The indigo warp is rope dyed, while the weft is reaction dyed grey, giving the denim a slightly muted cast underneath the surface indigo and plenty of potential for vintage-style fading.

Inside, TCB adds a custom blanket lining with an original border pattern built around green with pale pink accents. Green corduroy is carried through the collar, cuffs and pocket flaps rather than being limited to the collar, tying the lining back into the exterior details. Green bar tacks and buttonholes reference the original vintage Cat Head jacket and are designed to fade along with the rest of the garment.

The rest of the construction stays characteristically obsessive. TCB uses three different vintage-inspired button designs, adjustable double-button cuffs and the Cat Head branding developed as its own take on the animal mascots found throughout early American workwear. A chain-stitched neckband recreates another unusual detail from the original 1930s jacket, making this much more than simply a denim chore coat with insulation added inside.

Fabric & Care: The outer is made from TCB’s custom-developed cotton denim using a mixture of straight, slubby, irregular and neppy yarns to recreate the uneven character of vintage workwear fabric. The rope-dyed indigo warp is designed to fade gradually, while the grey weft adds depth beneath the surface. The jacket is blanket lined for additional warmth, with corduroy used at the collar, cuffs and pocket flap. Wash cold when necessary and hang dry. Avoid excessive heat to preserve the fit, lining and character of the fabric.

Fit: Cut with vintage chore-coat proportions and enough room to function as a true cold-weather work jacket. The blanket lining adds more body than the standard Cat Head Jacket, so anyone planning to layer heavier knitwear or sweatshirts underneath may prefer additional room.
