The Flat Head’s FN-SNR-101L takes the familiar block-check flannel and builds considerably more texture into the fabric than the pattern initially suggests. Rather than using a simple plain-weave check, Flat Head developed an original heavy flannel that combines the larger block pattern with a herringbone weave, giving the surface a subtle chevron texture that becomes more apparent up close.

The 100% cotton fabric is woven on an old-style shuttle loom, with the machinery adjusted specifically to handle the combination of block check and herringbone patterns. The slower, less uniform weaving process leaves subtle variation in the cloth and creates a fabric capable of holding more air between the yarns, helping give the shirt its substantial warmth and character. The reverse is brushed to create a softer, loftier surface against the body.

Construction stays rooted in vintage work shirts. High-stress seams use durable rolled construction, while urea cat-eye buttons protect the stitching thread inside their recessed centres and provide the period-correct appearance associated with older workwear. Small details such as the side gussets reinforce the shirt’s vintage influence without taking attention away from the fabric itself.

The White/Blue colourway gives the heavy cloth a cleaner, brighter appearance than Flat Head’s darker flannels. The blue check stands clearly against the white ground while the herringbone structure adds depth inside each block. It works easily with raw denim, faded jeans and darker outerwear, and the One Wash finish means the fabric already has some softness while still having plenty of room to settle with wear.

Fabric & Care: Made from 100% cotton heavy flannel woven on an old-style shuttle loom. Flat Head combines a traditional block check with a herringbone pattern to create additional texture and depth, while the brushed reverse provides extra warmth and softness against the skin. The shirt has been One Wash. Wash cold with similar colours and hang dry to preserve the fabric, fit and brushed interior. Avoid excessive heat and tumble drying.

Fit: Built in The Flat Head’s traditional Japanese shirt proportions with a clean body that works equally well worn buttoned or open over a T-shirt. Because sizing can differ from typical North American shirting, we recommend comparing our garment measurements with a well-fitting shirt you already own before selecting your size.
