UES MFG.CO.’s 502653 Heavy Flannel Shirt is built from an exceptionally substantial 14.5oz cotton flannel woven on vintage power looms. The slow weaving process gives the fabric a dense, highly textured surface with considerably more character than a conventional lightweight flannel, creating a shirt that feels closer to serious cold weather workwear than a basic seasonal layer.

The two sides of the fabric are intentionally quite different. The exterior is left relatively coarse and rugged, allowing the texture of the heavy twill weave to remain visible, while the interior is heavily brushed for softness and warmth against the body. That contrast gives the shirt plenty of structure on the outside without sacrificing comfort during extended wear.

Traditional UES detailing includes two acorn shaped chest pockets, thick collar and cuffs, palm nut buttons, side gussets and double chainstitched side seams. Selvedge detailing appears around the gussets and placket, reinforcing the vintage inspired construction while highlighting the narrow loom fabric used throughout the garment.

The Green check is direct dyed, allowing the pattern to gradually soften and develop subtle tonal variation with repeated wear and washing. Combined with the substantial fabric weight and brushed interior, the 502653 works particularly well as a cold weather shirt or light overshirt, while the slightly shorter, boxier silhouette keeps it rooted in traditional workwear proportions.

Fabric & Care: Made from 100% cotton 14.5oz selvedge flannel woven in a heavy twill construction on vintage power looms. The exterior retains a coarse, textured hand while the interior is heavily brushed for additional softness and warmth. The shirt has been one washed, so significant additional shrinkage should not be expected with proper care. Wash cold with similar colours and hang dry. Avoid excessive heat to preserve the fit and texture of the fabric.

Fit: Cut with a vintage inspired silhouette that is slightly shorter and boxier than many modern shirts, while still fitting relatively trim by North American standards.
