UES MFG.CO.’s W900-J WWII Model Denim Jacket takes the stripped back construction associated with wartime denim jackets and rebuilds it around UES’s 14.9oz Japanese selvedge denim. Designed as the matching jacket for the 400WW jeans, it uses the same brown cotton based denim and all yellow stitching, creating a set that feels rooted in 1940s workwear while still being shaped for modern wear.

The denim itself is made from specially spun cotton yarn that incorporates brown cotton before rope dyeing. This creates a deeper, richer indigo tone than a conventional white cotton yarn, while UES’s low twist yarn and slow weaving on vintage power looms leave plenty of natural irregularity in the surface. As the jacket is worn, the darker indigo should gradually give way to stronger contrast around the elbows, cuffs, seams, pocket and front edges.

Construction is intentionally simple. A single open chest pocket, four button front and one piece sleeve construction reflect the pared back character of WWII era workwear. UES adds its own V shaped stitching detail near the bottom of the front, a feature inspired by the period but not copied directly from a vintage original. A rear cinch allows the waist to be adjusted while keeping the overall silhouette clean and functional.

Compared with UES’s other denim jackets, the W900-J is cut with a wider, more relaxed body so the substantial 14.9oz denim can be worn comfortably without feeling restrictive. The combination of the roomy silhouette, heavy denim and simplified construction gives it a particularly rugged appearance when new, while repeated wear should soften the fabric and make the fit increasingly personal.

Fabric & Care: Made from 100% cotton 14.9oz Japanese selvedge denim using specially spun brown cotton yarn that is rope dyed in indigo. The low twist yarn and vintage power loom weaving create an irregular surface designed to develop strong texture and fading with wear. The jacket has been one washed, helping remove much of the initial shrinkage. Wash cold with similar dark colours and hang dry. Indigo transfer may occur while the jacket is new.

Fit: The W900-J has one of the roomier silhouettes among UES denim jackets, with additional width through the body to make the 14.9oz fabric comfortable to wear and layer. The one piece sleeves contribute to the rugged shape while allowing natural movement. UES sizing generally runs smaller than typical North American sizing, so we recommend comparing our garment measurements with a denim jacket you already own before selecting your size.
