This version pairs that classic shape with the brand’s signature 18oz Shiroyama Japanese selvedge denim, a substantial fabric known for its rough surface, deep indigo colour and long term fading potential.

Shiroyama is a 100% cotton selvedge denim woven in Japan exclusively for Indigofera. The fabric uses a traditional 3x1 construction with a rope dyed indigo warp and is woven with a deliberately irregular character. Rather than creating a perfectly flat, uniform denim, the construction leaves plenty of texture across the surface, giving Shiroyama its distinctive rough and slightly vintage appearance.

The rope dyeing process is an important part of how this denim will age. Indigo remains concentrated around the exterior of the warp yarn rather than completely penetrating the cotton core. With wear, friction gradually removes that outer layer of indigo and exposes the lighter cotton underneath. On a heavily textured fabric like Shiroyama, that process happens at different rates across the surface, helping create variation around creases, seams, pockets, knees and other high wear areas.

At 18oz, Shiroyama has genuine weight and structure, but this version has already been rinsed. The rinse takes away some of the initial rigidity of the denim and addresses much of the initial fabric movement before the jeans reach you. It makes the 18oz cloth considerably easier to start wearing while preserving the deep indigo colour and substantial feel that make Shiroyama distinctive.

Construction follows a traditional five pocket jean, keeping the focus on the denim and fit. A button fly, metal hardware and reinforced stress points provide the straightforward workwear construction you would expect from Indigofera, while the heavyweight Japanese denim remains the defining feature of the jean.

The Clint is cut with a regular rise and a straight leg. There is comfortable room through the seat and thigh, followed by a traditional straight silhouette rather than a pronounced taper. Fabric & Shrinkage: Made from 18oz 100% cotton Japanese Shiroyama selvedge denim. The fabric has already received a rinse, taking away some of its initial rigidity and addressing much of the initial movement in the cloth. Some minor additional shrinkage can still occur with washing. We recommend washing cold when necessary and hang drying to minimize further movement and preserve the indigo.

Fit: The Clint is Indigofera’s classic regular straight fit. It has a regular rise with comfortable room through the seat and thigh before continuing into a straight leg. Compared with the Buck, there is no pronounced taper through the lower leg, giving the Clint a more traditional straight silhouette and additional room for the heavyweight Shiroyama fabric to move.
