The Imogene + Willie Willie Black Rigid JP combines the brand’s classic high rise straight fit with a 13oz black selvage denim woven by Kuroki Mills in Okayama, Japan.

Kuroki has been producing denim in Okayama for decades and is one of Japan’s best known specialist denim mills. For this version of the Willie, Imogene + Willie uses a 13oz 100% cotton black selvage denim with enough structure to feel substantial while remaining manageable enough to begin breaking in from the first wear.

The denim arrives rigid, giving the jeans a crisp, structured feel when new. With regular wear, the fabric will begin to soften and conform to the wearer, allowing creases and areas of repeated friction to gradually become more apparent. Black denim tends to age more subtly than traditional indigo, gradually shifting toward softer shades of charcoal and grey as the surface colour wears away.

The Willie is Imogene + Willie’s high rise straight fit. It sits above the hips and remains straight through the thigh and knee, creating a clean silhouette with more room than the brand’s slimmer fits without feeling excessively wide.

Construction stays traditional with a five pocket layout and button fly. The jeans ship with a 34.5 inch inseam, leaving enough length to wear cuffed or hem to your preferred length.

The denim is woven in Japan, then patterned, cut, and sewn in the USA. It is a straightforward combination of Japanese denim production and American jean making, built around a versatile straight fit and a black rigid fabric that will become increasingly personal with wear.
