Dehen 1920 takes one of the most recognizable pieces of American military outerwear and builds it to a level that feels distinctly their own. The N-1 Deck Jacket combines a substantial waxed canvas shell with genuine mouton lining for a winter jacket that is exceptionally warm, durable and built to age.

The outer shell is made from 10.10oz waxed canvas. The wax treatment gives the cotton additional resistance to wind and weather while creating a surface that will gradually crease, mark and develop character through wear. Rather than trying to keep the jacket looking untouched, this is the kind of fabric that becomes more personal the longer it is worn.

Inside, Dehen uses genuine brown mouton through the body and collar. Dense, soft and exceptionally warm, the mouton is what really separates Dehen’s N-1 from more straightforward reproductions of the original military jacket.

The front uses a six-button placket over a hidden heavy duty #10 brass zipper with a canvas pull, giving you two layers of protection against the weather. A second #10 brass zipper secures the interior left chest pocket.

Two welt pockets sit at the front, while hidden 100% wool knit cuffs help seal the sleeves against cold air without interrupting the clean exterior. Dehen knits the cuffs themselves at their Portland factory.

Traditional N-1 details continue with underarm eyelets for ventilation, zigzag stitching beneath the collar and a buttoned neck closure that allows the mouton collar to be secured higher when the weather turns.

Built in Portland, Oregon, the N-1 is one of Dehen’s most substantial pieces of outerwear, combining military utility with the materials and construction the company has been refining for more than a century.

Fit

The genuine mouton lining adds considerable thickness to the interior, giving the N-1 a slimmer fit than Dehen’s typical outerwear. Dehen recommends considering a size up if you are between sizes or prefer additional room.
