The Samurai Jeans S552PX-BR brings the distinctive character of the brand’s Kanoko Brown denim to a classic Type II inspired jacket. Built from heavyweight 15oz brown Japanese selvedge denim, the jacket combines Samurai’s rugged approach to fabric development with a vintage workwear silhouette that is easy to wear on its own or paired with the matching S0150BRX jeans.

The Kanoko Brown fabric takes its name from “kanoko,” referring to the spotted pattern of a young deer. Its warm brown colouring and irregular surface give the denim a noticeably different character from Samurai’s traditional indigo fabrics. Woven from slubby cotton yarn, the material begins with plenty of visible texture and irregularity, creating a substantial fabric that will continue to soften and develop character through wear.

Rather than producing the familiar blue-to-white contrast of rope-dyed indigo, the brown denim is designed to age more tonally. High-wear areas gradually lighten while creases and abrasion reveal different shades within the brown colour spectrum. The result is a more subtle evolution, moving through rich brown, faded earth, and lighter worn tones while emphasizing the naturally uneven texture of the denim.

The jacket follows Samurai’s Type II inspired S552 silhouette, featuring the familiar dual chest pocket layout, front pleating, and waist adjusters associated with mid-century denim jackets.
