The Wrecking Crew Pants are TCB’s take on classic American denim overalls from the 1940s and 1950s, built with the same attention to small vintage details that runs through the rest of the brand.

TCB uses an 11.3oz Japanese selvedge denim woven on vintage shuttle looms. The fabric has a deliberately lighter indigo tone and an uneven, slubby surface designed to capture the character of vintage workwear rather than the cleaner appearance of modern denim.

The weft uses pre-dyed grey yarn rather than a conventional natural weft. As the indigo wears away, that grey underneath helps give the denim a deeper and more distinctive appearance through the fading process.

Interestingly, although the fabric itself is selvedge, TCB deliberately chose not to expose the selvedge ID anywhere on the finished overalls. It is a small detail, but an important one. The vintage overalls TCB studied weren't constructed to show off the selvedge, so neither are these.

The Wrecking Crew takes its construction cues from American workwear overalls of the 1940s and 1950s, with a roomy cut designed for movement and layering. Brass two prong donut buttons and two prong snap buttons are used throughout, while cotton thread construction and period inspired bartacking add to the vintage character.

TCB even developed a special thread guide for one of their vintage Union Special machines to reproduce the distinctive chain stitching found along the back waist of the original garments they studied.

This version comes one washed, taking care of the initial shrinkage while leaving the denim ready to develop through regular wear.

These aren't simply jeans with a bib added. Overalls require considerably more fabric and more complicated construction than a conventional five pocket jean. TCB has continued producing them despite that added work, and the Wrecking Crew has become one of the brand’s longstanding signature pieces.

Fabric & Shrinkage: The Wrecking Crew Pants are sold one washed. TCB’s published measurements are taken after shrinkage, so the majority of the initial shrinkage has already been addressed. Some minor additional shrinkage can still occur depending on washing and drying conditions. We recommend washing cold and hanging to dry.
