UES MFG.CO.’s 60BW Big Waffle Shirt takes the traditional cotton thermal and gives the fabric considerably more presence. Thick cotton yarn is knitted on a low gauge machine to create oversized waffle cells with a deep, uneven surface. Those recessed sections hold pockets of warm air close to the body, giving the shirt excellent heat retention while maintaining the breathability and natural feel of 100% cotton.

The loose, low gauge construction also gives the fabric an impressive amount of natural stretch. Despite its substantial appearance, the 60BW moves easily with the body rather than feeling rigid or overly dense. Flat seam construction keeps the joins smooth against the skin, making it particularly comfortable when worn as a thermal layer underneath denim jackets, flannels and heavier outerwear.

Steel Grey works especially well with the exaggerated texture of the knit. The muted grey sits somewhere between the traditional look of a natural thermal and the cleaner appearance of the Black version, while the shadows created by the deep waffle structure give the colour additional depth. It pairs naturally with indigo denim, black denim, olive fatigues and other workwear staples without overpowering the rest of an outfit.

The design itself remains deliberately simple, allowing the fabric to do most of the work. With repeated wear and washing, the cotton will continue to soften and settle while retaining the distinctive oversized waffle structure. It is an uncomplicated cold weather layer built around warmth, comfort and a textile that becomes better the more often it is worn.

Fabric & Care: Made from 100% cotton using thick yarn and a low gauge knitting machine to create UES’s oversized waffle structure. The raised and recessed knit helps retain warm air while providing enough natural stretch to move comfortably with the body. The garment has been one washed, helping reduce additional shrinkage. Wash cold with similar colours and hang dry. Avoid excessive heat to preserve the shape and texture of the knit.

Fit: UES cuts the 60BW relatively close to the body so the waffle fabric can work effectively as a thermal layer. The knit provides a good amount of stretch, but UES sizing generally runs smaller than typical North American sizing. We recommend comparing our garment measurements with a thermal or long sleeve shirt you already own before choosing your size.
